Talking To Your Child About Sex

Sex can be a difficult subject for many parents to approach with their children. Auntie Annie offers some advice:

As an introduction to my posts concerning talking to your kids about sexuality, here are some basic do's and don'ts for talking about sex with your child:

Don't wait to have "the talk" with your child at the ideal time.

Do treat every day as an opportunity to talk about sex and relationships.

Don't leave sex education to the school or your church or your kid's friends.

Do plan to be your child's first source for sexual information, because sexual health is too important to leave to others.

Don't treat body parts and sexuality as "dirty" or "bad".

Do encourage a healthy respect for sexuality, remembering that in a good relationship, sex is a beautiful thing.
